Opening Bursa to the world by investing in advanced technology, Gökçelik - the depot and shelving systems brand - has successfully completed the digital transformation MES (Manufacturing Execution System) project it embarked on in 2021.
Gökçelik’s integrated Production Management System (MES), which incorporates the S/4 HANA ERP project, is an online integrated computer-aided system that collects data across a range of production methods, in order to increase the quality and efficiency of manufacturing depot and shelving systems.
Gökçelik, which exports depot and shelving systems to more than 70 countries, has built its management processes on increasing customer satisfaction. The MES project was completed using the planning system interface via data collection, work order management, workstation management, tracking and management of stock, production intelligence, visible factory, and product quality management throughout production.
MES AND THE INTERNET OF THINGS
With the MES project, which focuses on Industry 4.0 and The Internet of Things for the manufacture of depot and shelving systems, Gökçelik collects instant-synchronous information from the production area, storing the data on a regular central base, while monitoring the production facilities visually on Andon screens and via mobile applications. The MES project, which is accessed over the network by reporting data - for example, from the production planning engineers’ office - also provides communication between production units by receiving and arranging work orders over ERP. Meanwhile, with simultaneous access to cases, it increases work efficiency and minimises losses.
With the MES Project, Gökçelik has made its production facilities more visual. Management monitoring of Andon screens, plus the activation of mobile applications, ensures losses are minimised. It also aims to increase market competitiveness by monitoring and analyzing the company's business continuity and productivity increases, its instantaneous OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and the TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) data by performing remedial activities and managing costs.
The Benefits of the MES Project:
• Increased customer satisfaction,
• Reduced labour costs,
• Reduced production cycle times,
• Reduced order-to-delivery time,
• Reduced paperwork,
• Increased employment of machinery,
• Bringing agility and saving the business time,
• Improving the visibility of the supply chain.
