The two devastating earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş - affecting a total of 10 provinces - are amongst the biggest disasters in the history of the Republic. To heal the wounds of the earthquake disaster that has caused and exposed millions to great losses, public bodies, in particular state and local government, citizens and NGOs throughout the country, including private sector institutions and employees have mobilized to give a helping hand.
Bursa-based shelving systems manufacturer Gökçelik, with its employees, is extending a helping hand to the region’s people after their exposure to the disaster. Gökçelik and its employees have collected aid, and are delivering supplies to a centre organized by the NOSAB Regional Directorate, as announced by AFAD and state officials. Furthermore, company employees seeking to actively participate in search and rescue efforts have joined Nilüfer Search and Rescue Association teams and set off for the zone.
Burak Aras of Gökçelik, who is also a NOSAB Board of Directors member, stated that both the NOSAB regional administration and the region’s industrial organizations are acting out of awareness, and that their humanitarian duty was to lend a helping hand to our earthquake victims. He shared his emotions by saying, "The cherished Turkish nation never stops reaching out to anyone in need of help. Kahramanmaraş is a huge disaster, and our duty is to do all we can. I hope to God that such catastrophes will not be shown to our beloved nation again." Aras added that follow-up help will continue in the coming days.
