GÖKÇELİK ENTHUSIASTICALLY CELEBRATES REPUBLIC’S CENTENARY

Workers and office staff of Gökçelik Ltd. - the leading manufacturer of shelving systems - staged a magnificent celebration commemorating the Republic’s Centenary.

Gökçelik CEO Yalçın Aras, Board Member H. Burak Aras, General Manager Zafer Barış Yazan, NOSAB President Erol Gülmez, came together with workers and office staff at the ceremony, which started with a minute’s silence and the singing of the National Anthem.

Enthusiasm and pride dominated the event, which was accompanied by a lively video, and included communal singing of Atatürk's favourite songs and anthems; also performed was a traditional zeybek dance, then a tango and waltz - specially prepared to enhance the significance of the day.

Enhancing the poignancy of the Republic’s centenary event, Gökçelik CEO Yalçın Aras, Board Member H. Burak Aras, General Manager Zafer Barış Yazan, and NOSAB President Erol Gülmez gave short addresses.

Following General Manager Yazan, who concluded his address by reading out a poem he had written, Board Member Burak Aras’s speech recalled Atatürk's important breakthroughs on behalf of the republic. NOSAB President Erol Gülmez mentioned the Republic’s achievements, and stressed the on-going work needed for their protection and preservation.

“WE ARE THE REPUBLIC’S CHILDREN”

Addressing the celebration to huge applause, Gökçelik Ltd. CEO Yalçın Aras said, “We are the Republic’s children: we believe in its truth, we believe in those who worship truth, we believe in its independence, and we believe in our national anthem. We are the Republic’s children, and we believe in Atatürk. We are the Republic’s children, and we are free. We are the Republic’s children, and we will protect the Republic forever. And we will never, ever stop calling it the Republic.”
